The close of 2023, is a time not only for reflecting on the year that has passed but also for expressing gratitude and looking ahead to the promise of 2024.
This year we have witnessed incredible generosity of many individuals like you who have been instrumental in making the world a better place. One significant initiative involved scholarships for aspiring medical students in the Nile Region of northern Uganda. This endeavor was particularly vital given the current doctor-to-patient ratio, an astounding 1:100,000 (yes, that’s five zeros in that ratio!). The need for healthcare professionals in the region is immense.
Closer to home, in Cincinnati, we have continued to support our neighbors who are working hard but struggling to make ends meet. Our help provides essential food and help with basic bills for those coping with critical financial shortfalls.
We have also been able to help support a home for patients with leprosy in Taiwan. Leprosy is still with us, and those afflicted by this condition still face ostracization and discrimination. However, thanks to your compassion and generosity, they know some people care about their health and well-being.
These are just a few instances where even a modest contribution can have a profound impact. Every donation to the Comboni Missionaries is a step toward enhancing the lives of others, and we deeply value every contribution, no matter how small.
For those who wish to make a donation, there are several convenient options available. You can choose to send a check, with a pre-addressed envelope included in this magazine for your convenience. Alternatively, you can make a secure online gift by visiting our website at combonimissionaries.org/donate. Some of our friends have found it advantageous to donate appreciated stocks, which not only supports our mission but also offers valuable tax benefits. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor for more information on this option.
Others prefer to explore deferred giving, which entails contributions through wills, life insurance policies, or trusts. Additionally, some contributors opt for purchasing gift annuities or rolling over their required minimum distribution from their IRA to support the Comboni Missionaries.
For more info on giving, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can contact me directly at kaufman@combonimissionaries.org or call 513-474-4997. Regardless of the method or the amount you choose to contribute, whether it’s $1 or $1 million, please know that your gift carries significant meaning, and it truly makes a difference in the lives of those we aim to serve.
As we approach the conclusion of 2023, let us collectively embark on this journey of gratitude and giving, ensuring that our actions pave the way for a brighter and more compassionate 2024. Thank you for your unwavering support!
